Description:
The Missouri Historic Schools Alliance is a network of history and one-room school enthusiasts, community development professionals and others that work to save and share the stories of historic schools in rural Missouri as well as the physical structures. These schools are an important part of Missouri's history because they tell stories about how people learned and lived in the past. Many of these schools were built over 100 years ago, and are special because of their unique designs and the memories they hold. Members of the alliance also recognize that these schools are an asset to rural communities and can play a role in growing heritage tourism in Missouri.
Become a member of the alliance with an annual membership registration.
The Missouri Historic Schools Alliance provides education and training to its members on topics related to heritage preservation and tourism, community development and neighbor engagement. Members of the alliance work hard to preserve and maintain historic school buildings in rural Missouri. This alliance can provide advice, support and camaraderie. The alliance also provides resources to help care for or restore old rural school buildings so they do not fall apart. The ultimate goal is to turn more historical rural schools into places everyone can use, like museums or community centers.
