The White oak Garden Plot webinar series consists of three sessions starting 1/15/2025 and ending on 1/29/2025. Sessions will be on Wednesdays beginning at noon and ending at 1 pm. Dates of these are 1/15, 1/22, and 1/29. Twenty registered attendees will receive 50 white oak seedlings. Seedlings will be provided based on registration date and completion of all three sessions. Seedlings are provided by and will be shipped from the Missouri Department of Conservation George O White State Forest Nursery. The presentations will 1) provide information on the importance of white oak to Missouri's economy and wildlife; 2) you will learn how seedlings were grown at the nursery and how to care for and plant your seedlings; 3) guidance will be provided on how to care for and maintain your white oak plantation. Participants should have an open area of about 5000 square feet suitable to plant seedlings. Registrants will receive information to determine if white oak will grow well on their site during the second session. The goal of these plantings is to determine which trees show the greatest potential for survival and growth and collect seed from them for future white oak seedling production. Seedlings become the property of the landowner. MU Extension staff would like to know where the seedlings are planted and with landowner permission, may want to visit some sites to determine survival and success of the plantings.
