COLUMBIA, Mo. – Golfers once again teed off in support of Missouri 4-H youth June 4 at the 10th annual Clover Classic Golf Tournament in Columbia. The event raised $48,000 for University of Missouri Extension’s 4-H Center for Youth Development. Presenting sponsors were The Climate Corp., a subsidiary of Bayer; and Great American Insurance-Crop Division.

“We are so honored by the incredible support of our sponsors, players and volunteers,” said Rachel Augustine, director of the Missouri 4-H Foundation. “Since 2009 the 4-H Clover Classic Golf Tournament has raised over $320,000. This support helps us fulfill our mission to maximize 4-H youth development opportunities and empower young people in every county of the state to learn by doing and become the leaders of tomorrow.”

Tournament co-chair Bob Idel and University of Missouri System President Mun Choi welcomed players, thanked everyone for their ongoing support and challenged teams to have fun on the golf course while supporting Missouri 4-H youth.

For the first time, the Bob Idel Championship Cup was presented in recognition of Idel’s continual support of the event as the tournament co-chair. “His hard work and dedication truly fuels the spirit of this event year after year in support of youth in agriculture,” Augustine said.

Awards for the first place Championship Flight went to the team of Jon Bishop, Phil Fancher, Dave Heath and Terry Whitney, who played in memory of Don Fancher, former MU vice provost for extension.

Foursomes teed off under the banner of hat sponsor FCS Financial.

Platinum sponsors included FCS Financial, MFA Inc. and the Missouri Soybean Association.
