BELLE, Mo. – The Lanes Prairie 4-H Club proudly hosted its September meeting, bringing together youths and families to embark on a new 4-H year.

The event began with the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-H pledge, setting a positive tone for the gathering, said Bethany Prenger, University of Missouri Extension field specialist in 4-H youth development.

“During the meeting, participants learned how to make delicious apple butter, exploring not only the cooking process but also fun facts about apples and their history,” Prenger said. The highlight of the event was a taste testing, where members enjoyed their culinary creations, fostering a sense of community and shared learning, she said.

“This meeting marks the start of an engaging year for the Lanes Prairie 4-H Club, with open enrollment for new members beginning October 1st through 4-H Online,” Prenger said. “This is a fantastic opportunity for youth to engage in hands-on projects, develop essential life skills, and build friendships that last a lifetime.”
