Missouri’s Recovery Friendly Workplace initiative is working with the Nebraska Safety Council on developing a similar program in Nebraska, said Rural Opioids Technical Assistance Program Director Ann McCauley.
MU Extension showcased the Recovery Friendly Workplace-Missouri program in April at the Nebraska Safety Council’s annual conference. At the conference, McCauley and Allene Gremaud, Missouri’s RFW coordinator, shared information on the process for Missouri businesses and schools to become certified Recovery Friendly Workplaces through a training program developed by MU Extension Community Health Engagement and Outreach (CHEO). After the conference, two Nebraska businesses volunteered to complete Missouri’s training and pilot the designation process in their state.
McCauley and Michelle McDowell, CHEO senior program coordinator, were also featured live on the Nebraska Safety Council’s Connections podcast, “Social Wellbeing at Work and at Home,” talking about the RFW model in Missouri to a nationwide audience.
MU Extension is sharing web-based training, technical assistance and content on Nebraska’s Wellness Portal, which features a membership of 375 businesses and organizations. The portal will contain the curriculum developed for the RFW designees in Missouri, the Recovery Ally Training currently held with businesses in Missouri, and the We Can Prosper resilience training.
