Curt WohleberWEBB CITY, Mo. – Fruit and vegetable growers can learn about produce safety at a half-day workshop Jan. 17, 2018, in Webb City, Mo.
The workshop will help all produce growers, include those selling at farmers markets and to restaurants, grocery stores and wholesalers, improve the safety of their produce and will provide an introduction to produce safety regulations and market requirements.
“Because some produce is not cooked before eating, it’s essential that anyone handling fresh fruit and vegetables along the grower-to-consumer chain use the best practices possible to ensure safety,” said Londa Nwadike, consumer food safety specialist with University of Missouri Extension and Kansas State University Research and Extension.
Participants can receive up to 10 free water tests after attending the workshop, she said.
The workshop is 9 a.m.-noon Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, at Central United Methodist Church, 5 Pennsylvania Ave., Webb City, Mo. Cost is $15.
