Professional background
Sharan Srinivas is an assistant professor with a joint appointment in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering and the Department of Marketing at the University of Missouri (MU). He is also a core faculty at the MU Institute for Data Science and Informatics, and a visiting faculty at the University of Passau, Germany. Srinivas received his Ph.D. in industrial engineering and operations research from the Pennsylvania State University.
Srinivas’ area of specialization is data analytics and operations research with research interests in healthcare operations management, transportation/logistics, smart service systems and supply chain. He has been an investigator on a range of industry-based research projects. He has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles in journals, conferences, books, and trade publications. In particular, his research work has appeared in leading journals such as Computers and Industrial Engineering, Expert Systems with Applications, Transportation Research Part C: Emerging Technologies, Transportation Research Part E: Logistics and Transportation Review, International Journal of Medical Informatics. Srinivas has taught undergraduate, graduate and MBA level courses that include topics pertaining to data analytics, machine learning, simulation, service systems and supply chain optimization. He is also an active member of INFORMS and IISE professional societies and has served numerous times as a session chair in their annual conferences. Srinivas is a certified six sigma black belt and recipient of multiple awards (INFORMS Koopman prize, INFORMS Data Mining and Decision Analytics Best Paper Finalist, Winemiller Excellence Award, Richard Wallace Faculty Grant, Service Enterprise Engineering Fellowship).
