2024 4-H Camp: Camp will be held June 10–13 at Camp Derricotte, in Cuivre River State Park, near Troy. All 4-H members ages 8–13 are encouraged to attend. Campers will participate in fun activities including making crafts, exploring hands-on activities, swimming, fishing, and singing fun songs, meeting new friends, learning about our environment, and more. All the while, campers will be developing social skills and building confidence in their ability to take care of themselves. Add traditional camp ceremonies to the mixture, and you have the perfect recipe for summer fun!
Campers will stay in cabins with other youth about the same age. This allows campers to stay in a cabin with their friends. Daytime activity groups (color groups to experienced campers) will be divided by age as well. That will allow kids to stay with their friends all day and still meet other kids in the county that share their interests. All of the campers will be together for evening activities, meals and special programs. Our camp will have only Franklin, Gasconade and St. Charles County 4-H’ers.
Transportation and lodging: The Franklin County 4-H Council provides buses to take our members to camp. The buses will leave from, and return to, the JC Penney parking lot in Washington. A detailed schedule with departure and return times, along with a list of items campers should bring with them will be sent out in a follow-up letter closer to camp time. Camp Derricotte facilities include cabins with updated showers and restrooms in each cabin. Campers are supervised by county 4-H staff; Franklin, Gasconade and St. Charles County 4-H teens; camp cabin advisors; and our camp staff, including a health aide.
Camp registration: Camp registration cost is $165, which includes lodging, meals and a camp T-shirt. Registration will be open for 4-H Camp through 4HOnline from April 1–May 1. To register a youth, families will sign-in to their 4HOnline account. Click continue to family and then scroll down the page. In the event registration drop down, select the member attending and the event “Derricotte 4-H Camp Franklin, Gasconade & St. Charles [036]”. Click continue and the system will walk you through the process. Repeat this process if a family has multiple members attending. Payments can be made by check/cash in the office. Make checks payable to Franklin, Gasconade or St. Charles County Extension depending on your county of residence. All checks and cash for payment must be received to the Extension Office, located at 100 Union Plaza Drive, Union, MO 63084.
Please note that special financial arrangements can be made for families sending more than one child or those who have other financial hardships. This can range from allowing payment over time to partial scholarships. Please contact Tanner Adkins or Julie Hilkerbaumer, and we will do what we can to assure your child has the opportunity to experience 4-H Camp. Please do not let the cost determine whether your child comes to camp without checking with us first.
